Production of stm food products. Encyclopedia of Marketing

Dear friends,

You are often interested in the composition of Probalance and Protail feeds, production and storage conditions, ask yourself the question: "Imported feed or not?" Instead of stating dry facts in absentia, we decided to show you the Aller Petfood plant so that you can see with your own eyes the entire technological process, which usually remains behind the scenes.

And so, the Aller Petfood plant, which produces canned food Probalance and Protail, is located in St. Petersburg.

AllerPetfood. A company with a century of history

It is impossible to begin acquaintance with the production of Probalance feed without plunging into the history of the Danish company Aller Petfood, founded in the early twentieth century.

Back in 1921, miller Frederik Bülling bought an old mill located in the small village of Aller, in the southern part of the Danish peninsula of Jutland. It was here that Frederick founded a farm animal feed company.

Subsequently, the rights to the mill were passed from father to son, and Aller Petfood developed successfully. Nowadays, it is run by the fourth generation of the Bülling family, without changing the age-old traditions of naturalness and reverent attitude towards pets.

When you are in front of the plant for the first time, you involuntarily ask yourself the question: "How do you get inside?" The correct and only answer: "Without an invitation - nothing!". No outsiders are the basis for maintaining the technological process and high quality of the resulting product.

At the entrance there is a stand "Plant Life" in a prominent place. The plant is proud of its employees! This attitude towards personnel allows us to establish well-coordinated production and reliable relationships within the team. Each employee of the company feels like a part of something bigger, so he approaches his work with all responsibility.

Before you get inside

To go to production, you need to leave street clothes in the administrative building, put on disposable gowns, shoe covers and stylish hats with ties. And also carefully read the rules of conduct in the production workshop. Then comes the disinfection stage. You've probably watched fantastic films where scientists dressed in protective suits are sprayed with disinfectants. Believe me, using all the hygiene products provided, you can feel like the heroes of the film!

And now, the long-awaited door leading to the territory of the main production, finally opened. There is a rumble of automatic lines, but, surprisingly, there is almost no smell. Well, you know, imagining a walk through a cape or fish processing plant, you expect the corresponding amber. "So what's the deal?" - you ask. Instead of answering, let's look at a special raw materials workshop ...

Raw materials, ingredients and their storage

The spacious room can be roughly divided into three parts. Firstly, this is the refrigerator itself - just huge! The ingredients arrive at the factory frozen and are immediately sent to the freezer without delay. In a very cold freezer! We managed to take just a couple of frames, and jump out of there barely covered with frost.

Immediately behind the refrigerator there is a certain section for the preparation of raw materials, where experienced operators, many of whom have worked at the enterprise for more than one year, weigh the raw meat in strict accordance with the recipe and send the frozen blocks to an industrial meat grinder for the primary grinding stage. It is important to note that at this stage not only weighing is carried out, but also a secondary input control of raw materials: each block is assessed for compliance with the specification, the block temperature is measured. In addition, a metal detector is installed on the conveyor that feeds the blocks into the meat grinder, which checks each block for the absence of foreign metal objects. Production technologists regularly take samples of raw materials for analysis of nutritional indicators. Not a single discrepancy will go unnoticed! And if something is revealed, then they necessarily block the entire batch of raw materials, not allowing such raw materials into production.

The third conditional zone is industrial mixers (vacuum mixers). At this stage, crushed meat raw materials are mixed under vacuum with dry ingredients, in accordance with the recipe in a certain sequence and subject to temperature conditions. To ensure good quality chunks (as formed meat pieces are called at the plant), a high degree of grinding is required, which ensures uniformity of the structure, uniform mixing and the water-holding capacity of the minced meat. For this purpose, the resulting minced meat is subjected to a second, fine grinding on special equipment - an emulsifier. From here, the evenly mixed substance is sent on an exciting journey through the plant.

Production of one batch of canned feed

After leaving the raw materials shop, we pass to the conveyor, going somewhere in the horizon. At the base of this production line is an extruder - a special device that somewhat remotely resembles a domestic meat grinder. Under the action of high pressure, the prepared minced meat emulsion passes through the holes in the die of the extruder and takes the form of long sausages. They (sausages) in orderly rows go into the distance under the metal cover of the steam tunnel. And there real magic happens!

Passing along the conveyor, "meat sausages" are heat treated at very high temperatures.

At the end of the production area, the steamed sausages that are actually ready for use are cut into small pieces - chunks. On a conveyor belt, they go up ...

Packing the finished product in sachets

Climbing onto the platforms of the weighing stations, you can see how the feed is evenly distributed over a pre-selected container - in the case of canned food, these can be metal cans or small bags - pouches. The packaging of canned food is hermetically sealed and then the product is sent to the most important stage in the entire production cycle - sterilization. Sterilization of the product is carried out in modern industrial autoclaves, where all harmful bacteria die under high temperature and pressure. It is due to the sterilization process in conjunction with the tightness of the packaging and at the same time without any chemical preservatives that such a long shelf life is ensured - 2 years!

After sterilization, the product cools down for a while and is sent to the final production line, where it is packed in boxes and stacked on pallets.

Now we get to the last part of our journey through the Aller Petfood factory. This is a temporary warehouse. You ask: “How is that? After all, at the very beginning, you said that the feed is not stored due to debt. " Do not be alarmed, everything is in fact.

The entire production process of the plant is adjusted in such a way that the feed is produced in the amount exactly for dispatch. Simply put, it doesn't stay in a temporary warehouse for more than a couple of days. By the way, for this reason, the storage room for the finished product has been allocated quite modest.

Here pallets with canned food are securely fixed using a stretch film, which, together with thick cardboard, completely eliminates the violation of the tightness of the package. Canned food Probalance and Protail get to store shelves safe and sound.

Well, the feed only has to wait for the truck, and our tour of the Danish Aller Petfood plant in St. Petersburg has come to its logical conclusion.

Private label or Private label- Own Trademark of the company, which, as a rule, operates in the retail segment and has an established sales network. The production of private label products is outsourced to a third party manufacturing company, allowing the owner of the private label to concentrate on marketing and sales. It is customary to think that private labels are the lot of large retail chains. But this is far from the case. The main condition when private label is economically justified is the presence of a well-functioning retail distribution network, its own customer base (wholesale or retail is not so important), capable of selling a minimum contractual lot.

The minimum contractual batch of cosmetic products is 100 kg cream formulations, 300 kg foaming products

The further development of your brand depends entirely on your chosen promotion strategy. As an example, starting to work with private labels and placing an order at our production, you have the opportunity to set a lower price for these products or set it at the level of competitors, laying the financial basis for forming an advertising budget. Then, in the first case, you are able to implement the strategy of low prices and supplement your product range with your own line of inexpensive products. And in the second - to engage in full-fledged brand creation that meets your visions and expectations.

For 12 years our company has been developing and manufacturing products under its own trademarks and within the framework of contract manufacturing. 2 research laboratories, highly qualified personnel with many years of experience allow you to realize your ideas and be a reliable partner in the production of private label products within the framework of contract manufacturing. What are the benefits of a private label customer

1. More income

Most of the profits of suppliers of goods become your profit. And the more significant part of the sales volume your private label products take, the greater this effect.

2. Growth of the company's status in the eyes of customers

A company with its own brand significantly increases its credibility with customers and consumers.

3. You invest only in yourself and in your development

By promoting your own brand, you are developing your business, not someone else's.

4. Its production and its products without investment in production

You get products under your own trademark and are freed from serious and expensive investments in equipment, production facilities, personnel

5. Pen test

You would like to start your own production, but you are not sure about the result. Get started quickly and easily with us! We are your launching pad, which is ready to start implementing your production plans in 2 months.

Determination of product requirements. Making a decision on the need to manufacture certain types of products under a private label. Assortment approval for release by the working commission.

Based on the analysis of the results of market monitoring, the need for the release of certain goods under private labels is determined. At this stage, the main requirements for products are also formed, in particular for the range, quality and design of packaging, labels, volumes of products required for production, logistics requirements, possible ways of implementation, etc. The assortment planned for release is approved by the working commission.

Search for private label manufacturers, initial product tasting.

Potential manufacturers can either independently apply to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Trading House" Kremlin "by submitting an application, or be identified by the company's experts.

At this stage, commercial proposals are studied, technical issues are clarified and product samples are requested. Samples undergo an initial tasting evaluation in focus groups, including through "blind tastings".

Assessment of manufacturers based on the results of an initial production audit and possible conditions for cooperation.

The specialists of FSUE "Trade House" Kremlevsky "carry out an initial audit of production - checking the availability of the necessary documents for the implemented quality management system. Additional documents and information may be requested if necessary. If the results of the initial audit of the manufacturer are positive, negotiations with him continue. When selecting manufacturers for private labels, various criteria are taken into account, including quality indicators, pricing policy, production volumes, and logistics conditions.

Laboratory testing of products. Production audit.

The products of potential private label manufacturers undergo laboratory tests in the independent laboratory of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Supervision" of the Administrative Department of the President of the Russian Federation, or in another laboratory accredited by the Federal Accreditation Service, selected in agreement with the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Trading House" Kremlevsky. Subject to the successful completion of laboratory tests of products, experts of FSUE "Trading House" Kremlevsky "visit manufacturers' enterprises to assess compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation, the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union and Russian and international standards governing the quality management system and food safety. Manufacturers who have received a sufficient number of points on the checklist are considered potential partners for concluding a contract, the rest are given time for revision. Audit reports are sent to manufacturers.

Re-tasting. Conclusion of a contract.

The products of manufacturers who have successfully passed all the selection stages are considered by the working committee. The products are re-tasting. The working commission approves the producers of private labels.

The essential terms of the contract are discussed with the manufacturers of private label approved by the working commission, the distribution channels, requirements for the design of packaging and labels, etc. are determined. Based on the results, an agreement is concluded.

The idea of this term appeared at the moment when private trade marks began to emerge. Private label (own trade mark) - products manufactured for sale exclusively in retail outlets.

Manufacturers who work with retail are divided into three groups. Those who produce only private label chains. Those who will never produce private labels and those who hesitate ... We will talk about whether it is worth producing private labels for those who have not yet decided.

A manufacturer of canned vegetables contacted me. He regularly tries to start working with large retailers. First I wanted to enter with my brands. Did not work. Didn't go through economics, etc. After that, he decided to "go the other way" - to enter with his own brands of networks. And the result is the same !!!

After doing a little diagnostics, I found out that:

- the production is quite fresh, but due to the small volume of sales, the cost of goods produced is high

- commercial offers for the introduction of products and the release of private labels did not differ significantly ... Conventionally, if one said "ready to consider the release of products under your brands", in the other there was no such postscript.

- proposals of the same type were sent to all networks. And in the same, where the manufacturer tried to enter with its brands.

CONCLUSION: The idea of logging into the network was doomed to fail!

In the near future I have plans training in writing a commercial proposal and a master class on writing a proposal for the release of a private label, as well astraining and master class on negotiations . I will try to combine these programs in one case.

1. You had to figure out your goals. I would put the following:

- increasing the competitiveness of the main product line due to the release of private label, additional production load and cost reduction

- obtaining favorable conditions from suppliers of raw materials and packaging due to an increase in production volumes and, as a result, purchases

- earnings on private labels

- logging into the network using STM as a locomotive

After a little discussion, we decided that all goals are important. But we will searchtwo types of partners : for working exclusively with private labels and those where we will enter with the main line, using private labels as a locomotive.

Therefore: in the first chains we offer a TOP assortment, in the second - an assortment that will not overlap with our TOP brands.

2. In order for the network to accept the offer, it is necessary to convince the buyer to accept the offer of cooperation. This is already from the field of negotiations. To write a killer commercial offer, you need to understand:

- whether the employee is engaged in the release of private label on his own initiative or simply fulfills his duties.

In the first case, you need to find out what is important for him: income growth, experiment or self-realization.

In the second case: what is required of him? What will be evidence of task completion? What is important for him: to get a result or close the position with minimal effort.

How to find out? To study the requests of the network, website, stores, a set of private labels, for which brand (verified or new) the request is made.

After that, you just need to network and write a wonderful commercial proposal, which will be accepted immediately and without complications.

IN FACT THE COMMERCIAL PROPOSAL IS A NEGOTIATION THAT WE HAVE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY TO SEE THE OPPONENT'S EYES AND ANSWER HIS OBJECTIONS

And, of course, you need to pass a production audit and release an excellent product in sufficient quantities. But that's a completely different story ...
