What paints are used to paint on glass with one stroke. Glass painting at home

Acrylic paints are easy to use and allow even novice needlewomen to paint decorative plates, glasses or any other glass elements that ordinary paint will not adhere to. A rich choice of color palettes and the convenience of tubes make this type of creativity truly enjoyable and comfortable and allow you to create real paintings. So let's learn the basics of painting with acrylic paints on prepared glass. A master class will help you learn the technique, which is suitable even for beginners.

Painting with acrylics on glass: a master class for beginners

When choosing acrylic paints, you should pay attention that they differ in stained glass and cover.

Cover paints are similar to ordinary gouache, they are dense and opaque. For drawing they require the most minimal skills, they "forgive" the inept strokes of beginners. Most often, these paints are made on a water basis, so they are easily chipped or even washed off from the finished product. To prevent this from happening, after painting, the craft must be coated with a special varnish (usually water-based acrylic), fixing the drawing.

Stained glass paints.

Stained glass paints give a transparent coating and look very nice on small images. To work with them, it is better to already have experience in the technique of carefully painting contours. In stores you can find several types of stained glass paints:

  • ordinary - for their drying you need to wait about a day.
  • baked - to fix the image, it must be heated in the oven in accordance with the instructions
  • sticky paints. This is more of a children's option, but it is very exciting to use it. To obtain an image, it must be applied to a smooth surface, wait for it to dry and then peel off like a film. After that, using this film, you can stick it like a sticker on any surface.
What is needed for painting with acrylic paints on glass:
  • acrylic paints. A set of topcoat paints of six colors will cost only 150-170 rubles, while stained glass paints are much more expensive - one jar is about 250 rubles.
  • special acrylic varnish for fixing finished images. It can be of several types: for application with a brush or for spraying from a can. The latter is more convenient, but more expensive than the first option. An ordinary jar of liquid varnish with a volume of 50 ml can be bought for 160-180 rubles.
  • several good brushes of different thicknesses (from #1 for writing out thin patterns to #18 for applying varnish) and shapes (round and flat). The cost of one brush is 20-35 rubles.
  • palette knife - a special metal spatula for dismounting paints. At the initial stage, you can do without it.
  • artistic outlines, especially if you plan to work with stained glass paints.
  • toothpicks and cotton swabs to correct the image in case of errors.
  • palette (for starters, it can be replaced with a regular white disposable plate)
  • paper and pencil. They are useful for preparing sketches of a future drawing, and it is also better to work out the first strokes on a sheet of paper before applying them to glass.

Consider the basic techniques for high-quality glass painting

There are several basic glass painting techniques using acrylic paints: dot painting, stencil painting and hand painting with brushes. Applying dotted paints will allow you to create very fashionable images in ethnic style.

Stencil painting is one of the simplest techniques. The greatest care is required when cutting out the template itself, especially if it contains small details.

And finally, hand painting is an option for advanced artists. With this technique, you can create real paintings on the dishes. The photo below shows a few examples.

We study a simple lesson on decorating a bottle with our own hands

You will need:

  • acrylic paints
  • contour on glass and ceramics
  • brushes
  • nail polish remover with cotton pads
  • toothpicks
  • cotton buds
  • palette
  • sequins
  • water based acrylic varnish
  • sandpaper (needed if the label is heavily behind the bottle)

1) Soak the bottle in hot water with the addition of detergent.

2) Remove all labels from the bottle (if they do not come off well, use sandpaper). Degrease the glass with nail polish.

3) In this example, there is already an image of flowers on the bottle, so you don’t have to draw them yourself according to the templates. Outline the flowers.

4) If necessary, we correct the show jumping with a cotton swab and a toothpick.

5) We mix paints on the palette and paint the flowers.

6) After a few hours, the image can be varnished and, if desired, sparkles can be added to the drawings.

Learning to draw on glass is best started by working on a flat piece of glass. A voluminous object, such as a glass or glass, requires more skill and preparation. drawing technique by glass similar to watercolor technique.

Instruction

First, contours are usually applied. Then, when they dry, they are filled with basic layers of paint. The surface to be painted should, if possible, be horizontal. Otherwise, the colors may bleed a little.

All air bubbles must be immediately removed with a needle, otherwise they will dry out and leave holes. A cotton swab with a solvent will help clean up the mistakes in the drawing itself.

Tip 10: How to paint an enameled teapot with acrylic paints

Agree that over time, enameled dishes are replaced by new, more durable ones. This does not mean that the old one will have to be thrown away. For example, you can make a new decorative one from an old enameled teapot. To do this, you just need to paint it with acrylic paints.

You will need

  • - an old enameled teapot;
  • - glossy acrylic paints;
  • - art paints on glass and ceramics;
  • - brush;
  • - contours on glass and ceramics;
  • - alcohol;
  • - cotton pad.

Instruction

Before any painting, the first step is to degrease the surface. To do this, we moisten a cotton pad in alcohol, after which we wipe the entire kettle with it. Then we squeeze out a little white and yellow paint onto the palette, mix them, and with the help of a brush we apply the contours of the picture, in our case it is a cat. After the contour of the figure is ready, paint over it. To save time while it dries

A little about paints, brushes and contour paste

Modern stained glass paints can be transparent, opaque, with sparkles and a metallic effect, removable and baked, synthetic and water-based. The palette of colors is extremely large, and the missing ones can be obtained by mixing colors with each other. But at the same time, it must be remembered that solvent-based paints are mixed only with similar paints, but not with water-based paints. In addition, for solvent-based stained glass paint, special compounds are produced, mediums that can lighten the paint without changing its density and consistency. With water-based stained glass paints, the same thing is done with water.

To work with solvent-based paints, you need to use brushes only with synthetic bristles, rinsing them after work in a special solvent. This type of painting is called cold, it is fixed with a protective varnish with a glossy effect.

Water-based stained glass paints allow you to work with brushes made of natural hair, and most often require baking to fix the picture. The drawing made by these paints on the surface is fixed by heating in an ordinary oven at 160 ° C.

Any stained glass paints are very fluid, and therefore, before they are applied to the surface, closed contours are created using special relief pastes. They are also called contours or out-liners, and they are enclosed in a tube with a thin tip. The color palette of contouring pastes is also rich and includes colors with the addition of sparkles and metallics.

To create large-format works imitating a stained glass frame, self-adhesive lead or rubber stained glass tapes are used, which have different widths and serve as excellent boundary lines that prevent paint from spreading. These tapes can be applied at any stage of the work, both before and after painting.

Application technique

Before drawing a picture, the glass is thoroughly cleaned, getting rid of dust, fingerprints, grease stains and other contaminants. To do this, use a dishwashing detergent or glass cleaner.

To transfer the sketch to glass, stencils are most often used. When painting a flat transparent surface, put the glass on a stencil and fix it with double-sided tape. When working with surfaces such as vases or various bottles, most often a stencil rolled into a tube is placed inside and straightened along the walls by filling the bottle with sand or salt.

First, as a rule, use the contour to draw the image. When drawing with them, you need to keep your hand on some kind of surface or support, since it is very difficult to make clear lines on weight. It is most convenient to hold the tube tilted at about 45 degrees, pressing the spout against the glass and drawing a line. Air bubbles inside the tube can get caught - they burst and leave ugly blots, breaking the line. If this happens, you need to remove the line starting from the damaged place as soon as possible, without waiting until it hardens.

To get acquainted with the paints, you will need a glass surface that can be used as a palette. There you can try different brushes before work and mix several paints to get the desired color.

When applying one coat of paint over another, allow the first coat to dry before applying the next.

Marker patterns

To create all kinds of contour images, there are special permanent markers that are resistant to air, water and temperature. Such felt-tip pens are often suitable for painting ceramic, porcelain, metal and glass surfaces. Their difference lies in color, the diameter of the writing rod, which affects the width of the line, and the features of fixing the pattern. Some markers only need to be allowed to dry for a day, but often, the product must be baked in the oven for 30 minutes in order for the image not to be erased during dishwashing. The manufacturer must indicate these nuances on the packaging.

The first step in the process of painting a cup with a marker is to select an image. It can be geometric or abstract patterns, emblems, flowers, animals, a beautiful or humorous phrase, the name of the person to whom the gift is intended, or a fictional character. The only condition is that the drawing should consist of contours and require minimal color filling.

After choosing a picture, you need to draw it or draw it yourself on a separate sheet of paper. Attach the image to the cup and make sure it fits. Then you should prepare the surface of the cup: wash, dry and wipe with alcohol to degrease.

If you plan to apply the image by hand, you can get to work. Lay the cup horizontally, because only in this position will the marker be able to leave a smooth, saturated line. Before starting, be sure to shake the felt-tip pen and try to draw a few trial lines on an unnecessary piece of paper.

If you need a guideline to apply the image, first you need to draw a bold line along all contours with a soft pencil. Please note that the drawing will be displayed in a mirror image in the future. Therefore, if you intend to transfer words to the surface of the dishes, they must first be reflected horizontally in a graphic editor, and then printed. After you have outlined the outlines, attach the image with the front part to the outside of the cup and secure it with tape around the edges. Next, you need to shade the paper in those areas where there are drawing lines, applying some effort. Thus, you will transfer the contours of the image to the surface of the cup. It remains only to remove the paper and draw lines with a marker. Inaccuracies can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth, and when the area is dry, draw a straight line. After baking according to the manufacturer's instructions, you can enjoy tea from an updated cup!

Painting with paints

If you want to transfer a bright, colorful image to a cup, you can use special paints for ceramics. Prepare the surface and transfer the contour in the same way as when drawing a drawing with a marker.

Next comes the creative stage, during which you create a unique pattern on the cup. The complexity of the image is limited only by your artistic abilities. To obtain new colors, you can mix your existing paint from the same manufacturer and series. To guide the contours, there are special contour paints. But they can be replaced with the same paint that covers the main part of the image. In this case, you need to take the thinnest brush.

The curing process, as with markers, can be "cold" (exposed to air) or "hot" requiring baking. Please note that the cup must be in the oven during both heating and cooling to avoid sudden temperature changes.

How to choose paints for painting on glass

Visiting exhibitions, museums or other events where masters show the results of their work - drawings on glass - you admire non-standard images. Looking at the amazing glass painting, patterns and miniatures, many are wondering:

  • What paints can be used to paint on glass?
  • How to learn to create something similar with your own hands?
  • Where to begin?

Any business begins with the acquisition of tools and materials for independent work. It is necessary to prepare pieces of glass or ceramics on which the first images will appear.

The concept of paint for painting on glass

A dye intended for application to glass must meet several requirements:

  • form strong adhesive bonds, adhere tightly enough to a perfectly smooth surface, after solidification, the adhesion strength should increase, not decrease;
  • the film of the applied paint should not fade under the action of sunlight, the choice of coloring pigments is made specifically, taking into account their behavior under UV rays;
  • lack of harmful secretions: no one will be pleased to do the work, feeling an unpleasant smell (a gas mask does not contribute to obtaining a high-quality pattern);
  • you need paint that is easy to take and transfer from the palette to the work surface.

It remains to figure out what materials are suitable for such work.

Paints on glass

Acrylic paints for drawing images on glass create an opaque thin layer on the surface. The peculiarity of these dyes is that they have a high degree of adhesion to a smooth surface; in the process of polymerization, the adhesion strength to glass only increases. It is almost extremely difficult to wash off the dried paint, you have to scrape it off.

Looking at the multi-colored drawing (Fig. 1), one can see how the artist skillfully mixed paints while working on it. He sought to obtain the shade that arose in him in the process of drawing.

Rice. 1 "Firebird" on wine glasses

Several different techniques are used here, which are used by artists in factories that produce glass products. Present:

  • bitmap, its characteristic feature is the application of small dots, which create a certain vision of the image;
  • artistic drawing, which is characterized by a brushstroke. When preparing a brush for a multi-color stroke, then several colors are present on it at once. As the brush moves, each color leaves its own color. They sometimes smoothly transition from one to another, but contrasting interactions are also possible;
  • multi-layered overlay of paint, indicating the high professionalism of the artist. In fact, drawing professionals do not start work with light tones, they create a bottom layer of dark shades, and then the rest of the picture is obtained by highlighting bright fragments against the main background, which attract the attention of others.

Acrylic paints in the hands of an experienced artist on a glass surface make it possible to form complex patterns that not everyone can repeat (Fig. 2). It's hard to talk about handicraft here - it's a great creative process. Only at first glance, all products seem the same, looking closely at them you can always see the differences. Each master, using acrylic dyes, leaves his individuality on painted objects.

Rice. 2 Painting on glass with acrylic paints

Looking at the process, many have a desire to join such creativity. It fascinates, gives birth to its own paintings, which you just want to leave on a transparent basis.

At one time, Italian masters found their own way to leave a mark on art. They used gelatin-based paints. Today, it is rare that anyone uses the technology of medieval glass artists. Their paints made it possible to leave only a thin transparent film with shades of the desired color.

Modern masters, using the technique of drawing from the Middle Ages, use paints on organic solvents. Their lacquer base makes it possible to get shine immediately after application. As it solidifies, the hue only increases saturation, becoming somewhat darker. Stained glass painting surprises with its lightness (Fig. 3).

Rice. 3 Drawing on glass, made with paints based on nitro-lacquer

Pigments that give color shades to a transparent varnish do not reduce the transparency of the product in any way. The feeling of light airiness remains, looking at the quality work of a modern master.

To give the product a look similar to an old stained glass window, you need to give each color a special frame. It is achieved using contour stained glass paints. They do not give a thin film, but form rollers of small height on the surface. Closed spaces are formed where the paint is poured (Fig. 4).

Rice. 4 Contour paint that imitates copper wire on glass allows you to get a "magic" pattern.

Previously, copper or silver wire was glued to glass in various ways, trying to bring it as close to the surface as possible in order to prevent different colors from flowing from one limited space to another. I had to wash the fragments, so the drawing process lasted quite a long time. Waiting for one color to dry to work on another.

Industrial ways of painting on glass

Using an outline drawing allows you to work with multiple colors at the same time. The contour at some factories is applied in the form of templates (Fig. 5). Modern technologies make it possible to facilitate the work of the draftsman as much as possible. It rather acts as a contour drawing painter.

Rice. 5 Contour transferred to glass

  1. A suitable image is selected that is desired on the glass surface.
  2. The selected image is taken. It is stored digitally on a computer.
  3. With the help of Photoshop, the necessary processing is performed to remove the unnecessary, as well as highlight the main thing.
  4. Printing is carried out on a transparent base, for example, on a polypropylene film.
  5. By thermal means, the pattern is transferred to the glass. All that remains is the outline where the fill should be done.
  6. The artist manually fills in the provided spaces according to the paint numbers.

It turns out a pattern that is repeated many times. This is exactly how glass balls for the New Year tree are painted with various “magic” drawings (Fig. 6).

How to make DIY paint

Anyone can join the art of painting glass products. Only a novice artist can check whether he is worth doing such an exciting thing. You can try your hand without purchasing expensive paints by making them yourself.

The main thing when working is to choose the desired carrier for the dye.

Drawing on glue paints made on the basis of PVA can be mastered by anyone. The technology is simple.

  1. Pour a little PVA glue into a container of 1 ... 3 ml.
  2. Drop a few drops of color. By adding color, you can control the saturation of the color.
  3. By mixing different colors, they achieve the desired shade.

Ready paint samples should be stored in tightly closed vials. Some prepare new consumables before each drawing.

Using transparent nail polish, you can also get transparent paints for glass. The process is similar to that outlined above. The difference is only in the carrier base for paints.

Using white acrylic facade paint, you can also get acrylic stained glass paints. The technology is no different from the one described above. Only use acrylic carrier.

Glass painting is an interesting activity that can become a creative profession.

Painting on glass with acrylic paint will give the kitchen originality and its own unique style. Beautifully painted glass interior items will make an incredible impression on guests. They can be door glass, kitchen glass, mirror surfaces, countertops, vases, paintings and even windows. The process of painting is difficult and painstaking, but everyone can create such beauty if they wish.

Decorative glass painting

Why painting glass surfaces should be done in the kitchen? The motives that the novice artist depicts will be devoid of rigor. They are great for.

If the artist displays every detail in the picture, a mosaic effect will appear. The image will visually consist of several color strokes. On glass objects, hand-painted paintings look especially gentle and elegant.

The painting is carried out using silicate paints.

Paints are sold in specialized departments, they can be matte, transparent. Also, glass artists use acrylic and stained glass paints. First you need to decide what exactly will be applied to the cabinet doors or a set of dishes. If fantasy and ability allow, draw a sketch yourself, whether it be flowers or a landscape. If there are problems with the drawing technique, you can always download the drawing, stencil or template you like and apply it.

Thickened paints can always be "revived" with a solvent.

Technique

  • Outline and fill specific areas.
  • Tiffany. Creates the effect of three-dimensional image. Helps to create a realistic image, the effect of close or remote location. This type of technique also covers small elements, the border of the picture is fragile.
  • Artistic stained glass for lockers or.

First, the surface to be painted is prepared: wiped with a dry cloth, degreased with soapy water or alcohol, wiped dry. Next, you can start drawing the outline of the picture. It is applied with a pencil or felt-tip pen. After the contour has completely dried, you can start painting. Each shade is taken with a separate brush. The paint should not go beyond the boundaries of the applied contour.

When the paint is applied, it remains to wait for it to dry.

The result is fixed with a transparent varnish, giving the pattern a glossy sheen. Aerosol varnish will help in creating the effect of antiquity.

Painting dishes

Hand-painted tableware is a gem in the kitchen, a point of special pride. Having tried painting on dishes once, you can acquire your favorite hobby for life. Two types of paints are used for painting: stained glass and acrylic. Both types are used on glass and ceramics, then you can use the finished dishes as usual.

A few tips for beginners:

  • It is better to start creativity using glass transparent dishes or snow-white ceramics. Then nothing will distract attention from the picture.
  • First, you should “fill your hand” on a piece of paper. Practice the hardness of strokes, the removal of thin and thick lines, a smooth transition from thick to thin lines. It's great if you learn how to use the spindle stroke - this is the main way to paint flowers.
  • The next step is to learn how to draw flowers. The main thing is to combine shades, to prevent one stroke from merging with others. Try to make a transition from a dark shade to a light one.
  • To add transparency to the drawing, dip the brush in water.
  • Create a sketch of the future drawing, cut it out and put it on the dishes. Professionals of painting on dishes are so confident in their skills that they do not use sketches, they draw right away.
  • The dishes are pre-washed and degreased. The contour dries completely in a couple of hours.
  • Paint the picture with paints, it is better to use a horizontal plane for drying.

An acrylic drawing will dry for a day, a stained glass picture will dry in six hours. Dishes painted with stained glass paints must be fired for 40 minutes in the oven.

Plate painting

Gzhel

Gzhel is called Russian folk art, it is recognizable in all countries of the world. This type of hand painting consists of simple lines, drops, nets, blue flowers on a white canvas.

If you like the combination of snow-white and blue, then you can create a whole panel of plates with Gzhel painting.

Work process:

  • A ready-made pattern or drawing is taken. The round shape of the plate encourages you to create a sketch that fits organically into the circle.
  • On the plate sketching with a marker.
  • The main drawing is drawn with a brush with a thin tip.
  • White paint brings out accents in the blue picture, transitions are made.
  • Before proceeding with painting the next element, you need to wait until the previous one dries..

How to create an art panel on the wall can be found in this.

To make the drawing look like a classic Gzhel, the lines should be smooth and wavy, but at the same time clear.

Khokhloma

Painting plates under Khokhloma is an interesting and exciting activity. This type of Russian art originated in the 17th century in Nizhny Novgorod.

Khokhloma is a painting of wooden utensils in red, black and green on a yellow background.

Work process:

  • An ornament is taken from a book or the Internet, transferred to a plate.
  • The background is drawn, bending around the leaves and berries.
  • The remaining elements are filled with the desired color.
  • The necessary touches are added: droplets, curls.
  • The plate is drying.

Other types of Russian painting on plates:

  • Petrikovskaya painting. Bright flowers, birds, patterns are drawn on a black or gold background.
  • Gorodets painting. The plot for such a painting will be a Russian hut, its inhabitants and attributes of the life of the people. It is performed with free strokes with a white or black stroke.

Folk painting includes the simplest patterns, flowers, berries, natural phenomena in everything that surrounds us in nature.

Contemporary paintings on glass and ceramics

  • Inscriptions. On the eve of the holiday, you can display congratulations or the name of the hero of the occasion on the dishes. The inscriptions in the form of lines from the letter look beautiful. There are many options here.
  • The simplest patterns: peas, stripes, squares, any geometric shapes look very original.
  • Vanguard. There are simply no boundaries in the options here: blots, random lines, lack of symmetry.
  • Ombre technique. The ombre effect is achieved by applying paints with a sponge. An ombre effect also appears if liquid stripes of paint are dispersed with a needle.

Materials needed for painting glasses:

  • Stationery.
  • Special outline.
  • Brushes.
  • Special paints for glass (there are acrylic - covering, as well as transparent stained glass).
  • Cotton pads and cotton buds, toothpick.
  • Degreaser.

Acrylic matte paints are not afraid of water. Stained glass windows are divided into fired and non-fired. Avoid water-based paints, take an alcohol base.

Operating procedure:

  • Degrease glasses with acetone or detergent.
  • Place the sketch cut out of paper inside the glass and secure with tape.
  • Draw a contour on the surface of the glass with a solid line.
  • Let the outline dry. You will have to wait from half an hour to three hours.
  • Fill in the outline with paint. If necessary, position the glass horizontally.
  • Remove excess paint with a cotton swab, and air with a toothpick.
  • The glass must be dry. It will take from several hours to days.
  • When using non-burning paints, the fixing is done with a colorless acrylic coating. For fired - roasting in the oven for 10 minutes. You need to put the glass in a cold oven, take it out after it has cooled completely. Make sure the glass can withstand high temperatures.

Themes for different occasions (hand drawing, artistic, dotted)

  • Hand-painted glasses are a wonderful gift for newlyweds. Doves, rings or two hearts are drawn on them. All these symbols will perfectly fit into the wedding paraphernalia.
  • You can also surprise guests for the New Year - glasses with painted Christmas toys, Christmas trees and snowdrifts will cheer everyone up. A great idea is to draw Santa Claus on one glass, and the Snow Maiden on the other.
  • Similarly, you can arrange glasses for Halloween (pumpkins), Valentine's Day (hearts).

Glass painting in the kitchen, equipped with lighting, looks especially elegant.

Among the disadvantages are the complexity and laboriousness of the process. But the pleasure of contemplating a unique piece of furniture created with your own hands is worth all the effort.

You will need

  • - Embossed stamps;
  • - synthetic brushes;
  • - contours on glass;
  • - acrylic paints;
  • - palette;
  • - acrylic lacquer;
  • - solvent;
  • - cotton pads.

Instruction

First you need to choose picture for glass application. Of course, one can invent picture in the course of painting, but not everyone is good at it. For such cases, special embossed stamps are on sale, picture from which you can transfer to glass. You can do it differently. Select picture(you can on the Internet), process it so that only the outline remains, print it out and attach it to the glass from the opposite side of the one on which you will draw. Then lightly dampen the paper so that it sticks to the glass. You can start painting. Do not forget to pre-wipe the surface to be painted with alcohol to remove oily fingerprints and other contaminants.

Drawing on glass can be applied using special contours or without them. Contours on glass, like paints, are produced in different colors, usually packed in tubes and used to create glass painting using stained glass technique. Thicker than paint, the contours prevent mixing and spreading of acrylic, but they are quite difficult to apply, and this requires practice. The contour must be applied by slightly squeezing the tube and rather quickly moving its “nose” over the surface in the direction you need. The speed and pressure must be the same throughout the line, or you will get an uneven contour. Small irregularities can be corrected with a cotton swab dipped in water.

Then take a synthetic brush in the shape of a cone. The smaller the details of the picture that you want to paint, the thinner the brush should be. Apply picture on glass can be two main techniques. The first technique is more suitable for transparent (stained glass) paints, but opaque acrylic paints can also be applied in this way. In order for acrylic paints to lay down smoothly, pick up more color on the brush and, lightly touching the glass, pull the paint a little to the sides, evenly distributing it over the surface in a not too thin layer. As soon as the paint stops flowing freely from the brush, pick it up again. Do this often and quickly to keep the edges of the painted space from drying out, otherwise you will get ugly streaks. The brush should not touch the same place twice, acrylic paints are applied in this technique only once.

If you are going to paint on glass with alkyd paints, then the application technique will be the same. For your information, acrylic paints based on alkyd resins, unlike paints on, spread better and do not require baking, but have a pungent odor and are washed off only with a solvent. The second application technique resembles the usual one on paper. To paint on glass in this technique, you will need opaque acrylic paints. Usually in this technique. A few little secrets. If you want to give texture to the drawing, use a hard brush. It will leave grooves that, when dried, will make the surface uneven. You can also use a foam sponge for this. Dip the sponge into the paint and apply the paint to the surface with a patting motion. If you do not have the right color, you can try to get it by mixing the available shades together. If you need to paint a large surface (make a background), use acrylic spray paint.
